The “International Probono Legal Services Association” (“We” or “the Association”) extends our warmest greetings to everyone!
The International Probono Legal Services Association Limited (IPLSA) is a charitable organisation established under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance of Hong Kong. It is also a member of the Second Sector (Professional Sector) of the Election Committee of Hong Kong and one of the 30 statutory voting bodies of the legal sector. In December 2022, IPLSA was granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), officially obtaining the eligibility to attend UN meetings related to economic, social and human rights affairs.
With promoting the development of pro bono legal services in Hong Kong’s legal sector as its core mission, IPLSA enables the sector to deeply participate in the development of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the innovation of international legal services. Meanwhile, it focuses on nurturing young legal talents and providing social and livelihood services, injecting vitality into the sustainable development of the legal industry and the harmony and stability of the society.
IPLSA’s core operations focus on four key pillars, with a commitment to professional excellence, pro bono practice, global connectivity and an international vision:
1. Provision of pro bono legal services, including regular free legal consultation in the community, with a cumulative total of over 6,000 pro bono legal consultation cases completed;
2. Advancement of national security education through a series of specialised training programmes to strengthen the public’s awareness of national security;
3. Dedication to the field of international legal services, coupled with professional legal training to enhance practical capabilities in international legal practice;
4. Active participation in international platforms such as the United Nations, voicing actively to tell compelling stories of China and Hong Kong.
Butterflyers Association , a community charitable organisation under IPLSA, has nearly 40,000 members. It has long been committed to livelihood services including caring for the elderly and supporting the young, youth development and pro bono legal consultation, continuously cultivating volunteer forces and spreading positive social energy.
